SOLARWINDS BRIEFING FEBRUARY 2021

SolarWinds - What this “attack of the century” means to you

The SolarWinds hack targeted thousands of organizations in both the private and public sectors. The “Sunburst” attack was a sophisticated supply chain attack, which involved a state-funded threat actor physically tampering with electronics (computers, ATMs, power systems, factory data networks) to install undetectable malware for the purpose of bringing harm to resources along the supply chain network. This is the “Hack of the Century” because it has affected more than 80% of the US Fortune 500 companies, as well as the top ten US telecommunications companies, top five US accounting firms, all branches of the US Military, the Pentagon, the State Department, and hundreds of universities and colleges worldwide.
